Back home in Aus.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay between entries, but as you probably know I have been all over the place in the last month.
First up was my wedding to Candice, and I am happy to tell you all that we really had a wonderful wedding and got to enjoy the day. Thank you ll for your well wishes and support it means a lot.

The Honeymoon was fantastic, we both got to chill out and relax in Fiji, and we spent a lot of the time on Turtle Island. It’s a majestic spot; it’s also the place where I managed to get my infamous coral cut, I really felt very little at the time, it was just a knick and I thought nothing of it.

As it turned out, that little knick caused me unimaginable health issues in China. I began to feel sick on the plane on the way over and the cut looked quite angry and infected – which it was.

Coral cuts and infections can be quite bad, and I spent most of my time in Beijing with a doctor around. I was lucky I had treatment when I did, if I had left it longer, it may have required surgery!

I would encourage people and other athletes to visit Beijing before the games. The culture is amazing, as is the climate.

The smog was never bad at any time while I was there, however the wind never blew from the north, which is usually what causes the really unhealthy smog to engulf the city.

Now that I am back Candice and I are leading the life of a happily married couple and I know I couldn’t be happier. We just did a photo shoot for Cleo and it should feature in next month’s magazine. Feel free to buy one!

I am now back in full training and working hard to get my fitness back, it won’t happen overnight but I will get back into peak condition.

I will be attending an endurance training camp in Townsville with the other distance swimmers. The camp will give me a chance to see where I am at, and really focus on my swimming.

Take care – Grant.
